criss cross

love and
fear
chase me up
mahogany staircases

in film noir
monochromatic
stiletto’d double step
sprints

a sack of groceries
an open mouth
a french baguette
a lusty tongue

do I ?
don’t I ?
take flight to the roof
or risk the landing, falling

the bag rips at the seams
i’m mindful of the eggs
precious, few
expensive

love will stay
for tea
and anecdotes

fear demands
bourbon
and bondage

i fry an egg
a perfect,
unbroken sun
pierced by crust

feed us first
my hungry tenants
cry
patience

in due time
i scold
i’m working on
my alibi

  1. ha rene…what an intriguing cacophony of images, that flow really well together actually my fav parts are…love will stayfor teaand anecdotesfear demandsbourbonand bondagei could easily see you up the stairs with the disingrating bag of groceries…and breakfast is good anytime…smiles.

  2. Kim, I've never read that series…but thanks:)This was actually inspired by a snagged pair of nylons. The snag was ladder like and reminded me of window blind shadows… The kind that are in film noir classics. Inspiración can come from anywhere!
