before the time of the city sun
and the inescapable
of its undoubtedly righteous and mighty

we knew by sense
the swell and flow of the seasons
we stuck our fingers in the wet soil
and felt the curve of the earth

  1. In researching the artist I learned many of his paintings were created from an 'on high' position … showing the Earth's curve … I enjoyed how you incorporated that into your lovely poem.

  2. I agree. I think we were more connected with the earth and with the natural season and turning of things. Very well put lines, those last few ones about touching the earth and feeling its curve. (I haven't an OLN poem, just blog hopping. Enjoyed your poem.)
